Skye

The weather ouside the bunkhouse was incredibly bad in the morning It was so bad it was entertaining just watching the wind and heavy rain batter the area from the safety of the bunkhouse windows , we werent doing any walking today and there was other walkers in the bunkhouse that had cancelled any idea of walking today , the bunkhouse posts up weather forecasts and bus timetables etc , It was to brighten a bit after midday and the was a bus into town at 11:30 so we sat about in the kitchen area of the bunkhouse chatting with the other gusts about their plans , there was some asian guests im gussing north india or packistan they were eating there chicken curry and rice with their fingers from plates . i suppose it saves dishes but it was facinating sharing a big house in the middle of knowwhere with all these other nations , there was some french kids and tehy spent the whole morning on their individual mobile phones never talked and hardly moved , i suppose british kids would be the same , we walked down for the bus only to find the bunkhouse havent updated to the winter timetable and neither had the bus stop notices it was 12:10 when the bus arrived , and the driver informed us the last one back from portree would be 17:10 ,we had a walk down to the harbour and then went for a bar lunch at the isles bar , the rest of the afternoon we spent trying to research a possibilty of getting our proposed hill walk done the following day we checked maps to see potyential walk start points and went to the toursist information asking about bsuses from where we were staying to the proposed walk start point , and because of the newly started winter bus timetable there was only to possible busses the next day and getting up and back down to get the last bus home was going to be tight with the proposed distances , on top of that the weather was looking windy and cloudy with a bity of scrambling at the top of our planned hill blaven we opted to forget it ,
we bought some food from the coop to take back to the bunkhouse for dinner and i had to stop for a beer and pee when we got of the bus after we had tried a few bars in portree to get wifi the bus journey home was a long one with a full belly , After our dinner we sat in the lounge with the fire blazing and spent the night chatting to two english climbers
who were on skye hoping to complete the full cuillen ridge , i dont think they are going to achieve this with the time they have left  , but they spent a long time studying their maps and discussing routes escape routes and potential starts and finnishes ,   so full marks for that , we got up sharp in the morning to catch our bus at 09:10 as we had plenty stuff to get packed up the now dry tent and boots and all our other stuff packed away . we got on the bus and over the bridge to the mainland at the kyle of lochalsh where we could get back to train journeys ,and only after some breakfast in a cafe and a wait at the train station did i thnk my hands felt cold and i remembered i had left my wet gloves in the bunkhouse drying room Oh well thats them lost glad i have another pair
